## Talking: proximity chat πŸ’¬
How this version looked

Harvest Summit is the L.O.S Farms hub: a mountaintop town square the size of four fully expanded farms, high above a vast ocean, where farmers walk around, hang out and chat with the people near them. It's on the website, so it works in the launcher, in any browser, and on phones.

Getting there

Press ⛰️ Summit in the site menu, or the ⛰️ Summit button at the top of the game page. You arrive by the Harvest Fountain in the Town Square.

Your farmer

You're your own FarmVille avatar, in the clothes you picked in the game. The game sends your look to the Summit when you load it, and again whenever you save a new look, so play the game once after an update and your farmer shows up as you. Until then you're the classic FarmVille starter farmer.

Walking around

  • Click or tap the ground to walk there; your farmer finds the way around trees and buildings.
  • Arrow keys or WASD walk too. Hold Shift to run (on a phone, tap twice).
  • Drag the ground to look around, and scroll or pinch to zoom.
  • The map in the corner shows the whole Summit and the farmers in it: click it to walk there. Go to takes you to each district.

The five towns

Every district is a small town of its own, and the middle is the capital. Cobbled roads join them, and the countryside between is woods and meadows. All the buildings are FarmVille's own.

Town Where What's there
Summit City (the capital) The middle A brick plaza round the Harvest Fountain, with the notice, events and travel boards. Summit Palace (the leaderboard) closes it at the back. Around it stand the Town Hall (forums), the Great Library (wiki), the Auction House, the Guild Hall (clans), the Summit Theatre and the Clock Tower, with streets of townhouses, shops, bakeries and inns between them.
Market Town The right Market stalls and carts round the square, the Market Hall, a bakery and the Traveller's Inn, and streets of shops: the general store, cheese shop, blacksmith, candle maker and more.
Festival Grove The left The Grove Stage for events, ringed with lanterns, the Bandstand, the Festival Barn and the Grove Tavern. Thatched cottages, blossom trees and a pond.
Harbor Town The front A harbor with piers, boats and a lighthouse, the Fish Market, the Anchor Tavern and the Warehouse, and beach houses along the shore.
Sunrise Heights The back, toward the mountains An alpine village of lodges and chalets with the Sunrise Chapel, the Observatory and a windmill. A terrace with benches along the cliffs faces the sun and the sea.

Each town has a central square, two main streets crossing it and a ring street, with lamps along them. Signs, boards and buildings with a βœ‹ cursor open things around the site, or show a message.

Talking: proximity chat πŸ’¬

The Summit's chat works like real life: the farmers near you hear you.

  • Press Enter, type, and press Enter again. What you say shows in a speech bubble over your farmer, and in the chat log.
  • Farmers within 14 squares read your words. A little farther (up to 32 squares) they just see "…": someone's talking over there.
  • πŸ“£ Shout (or start a message with !) to be heard up to 28 squares away. You can shout once every 30 seconds.
  • 😊 React with an emoji that floats above your head.
  • Staff can πŸ“’ announce to the whole Summit.

The Summit uses the same rules as the rest of chat. Messages are kept for 14 days so the staff can look into reports.

Staying safe

  • Click a farmer to see their profile, report them or block them. Blocked farmers disappear for you, with their messages.
  • βš‘ next to a message in the chat log reports it to the staff.
  • Staff can mute farmers in the Summit or send them back to the fountain.

Good to know

  • The sky follows the time of day in US Eastern time: dawn, day, dusk, and a moonlit night with lamps glowing.
  • Nothing you do in the Summit changes your farm, and nothing in it costs Farm Cash.
  • Your farmer sits out (πŸ’€) after 5 minutes without moving, and you leave the Summit when you close the page.
