| December 2009 | The first Christmas items arrive in the market. |
| March 2010 | FarmVille reaches its peak: 83.76 million monthly players and around 34.5 million daily players. |
| October 2010 | The first big Halloween item releases. |
| November 2010 | Thanksgiving items arrive. |
| March 23, 2011 | English Countryside, the first extra farm, opens. Players can now own more than one farm. |
| September 12, 2011 | Lighthouse Cove opens (early access; free on September 19). |
| October 13, 2011 | An HTML5 version of FarmVille is released. |
| November 29, 2011 | Winter Wonderland opens (early access). |
| February 28, 2012 | Hawaiian Paradise opens (early access; free on March 6). |
| June 5, 2012 | Jade Falls opens (early access; free on June 11). |
| September 17, 2012 | Haunted Hollow opens (early access; free on September 24). |
| September 2012 | Zynga releases FarmVille 2, a separate game. |
| November 5, 2012 | Mistletoe Lane opens (early access; free on November 19). |
| March 4, 2013 | Atlantis opens in early access and brings Shell points. |
| April 22, 2013 | Australia opens (early access; free on April 29). |
| February 24, 2014 | Emerald Valley opens (early access; free on March 3). |
| 2014 onwards | A new farm opens about every six weeks. |
| April 10, 2014 | FarmVille 2: Country Escape comes out for phones. |
| September 27, 2020 | Zynga announces the original FarmVille will close, because Facebook is ending support for Flash games. |
| December 31, 2020 | The original FarmVille closes after eleven and a half years. |
| November 4, 2021 | FarmVille 3 is released. |
| May 2022 | Take-Two Interactive completes its purchase of Zynga, and with it FarmVille. |
Holiday events
Zynga ran limited-time events for holidays every year. Each one brought a set of themed crops, animals, trees, buildings, and decorations that could only be bought for a few weeks. The game files L.O.S Farms runs on record when each item first went on sale:
